Two days to visit Granada may seem like a little time, but if you organize well and follow our plan, we assure you that you will take advantage of one of the most charming cities in the world. Because, you will not be of those who believe that the Alhambra is in Granada and little else, right? If so, you are very wrong: put on some comfortable shoes, which with our two-day route in Granada We are going to show you that the Andalusian city has lots of things to do.

At the end of the post you will find a Map with the itinerary and the points that we will see on this two-day route in Granada (which, I warn you, will not be few).

DAY 1 - MORNINGVISIT THE ALHAMBRA

Ok, Granada is much more than The Alhambra, but every good trip to Granada worth its salt should start with a visit to its most precious treasure. Built in the eleventh century under the Nasrid reign of Muhammed I, the Alhambra was born as a fortress that, little by little, was transformed into the most incredible royal citadel in history.

Today the monumental complex that is visited is formed by the following areas: Palace of Carlos V, the Medina, the Alcazaba, the Nasrid Palaces with the famous Patio de los Leones, the Palace of the Generalife And its gardens. Take your time to visit all its corners because it is, without a doubt, one of those places to see (at least) once in a lifetime.

It is highly recommended book the entrance to the Alhambra in advance. It is the most visited place in all of Spain and it would be crazy and a real shame to be unable to enter because of your bad planning. The best (and cheapest) is to book the ticket on the official website (price: € 14). On the other hand, if you prefer to also have a guided tour, you can book the excursion experience here.

DAY 1 - AFTERNOONWALK THROUGH THE CENTER

You will start the afternoon feeling dizzy for two very different reasons: on the one hand, the beauty of the Alhambra intoxicates anyone (Stendhal anyone syndrome?). And on the other, after a few hours of pulling up, take a picture of me here, we go for a walk there ... you will have an important hunger. But believe us, that in Granada is no problem: you will take advantage of your visit to familiarize yourself with the art of tapas, you'll see! Here we tell you where to eat the best tapas in Granada.

Recharged energies, we will be ready to explore the charms of the city center, which are not few. We start with the Cathedral, the first Renaissance church in Spain, and we will continue through the annex Royal chapel, where the Catholic Monarchs rest forever. Each access has a price of € 5, although the Cathedral is free on Sunday afternoons, and the Royal Chapel on Wednesday afternoons. If you get caught on any of these days, you will have to book the free visit on this website.

If you want to know the center of Granada by the hand of a local, check out this free tour. It is free, but remember to leave a good tip to the guide (who surely deserves it).

Our walking tour of Granada continues through the Romanilla Square and its popular watermark monument, the Bib Rambla Square, a good place to have coffee on one of its terraces, the Alcaicería market, the Isabel la Católica Square, heart of the historical center of the city, the New Square, and the Santa Ana Square, where one of the Tourist Offices is located (in case we have to collect some information). We will approach the beautiful (and hidden) Viewpoint of the Carvajales and, after contemplating the Alhambra from another perspective, we enter one of the most emblematic streets of the city: the Darro's career.

Here is a place that surprised us a lot and that, from now on, will be a fixed stop on our trips to Granada. Is he Perfume Courtyard where, beyond knowing its privileged location in a Renaissance palace of impressive beauty, it offers several interesting experiences (from a journey through the history of perfume in its museum, to workshops to create your own perfume). Best of all, the creations are ecological and 100% ethical. It is something original and unique to do in Granada (and a super gift / self-gift). More info.

We will leave there renewed and scented with desire to continue touring the city center. Keep going for the Stroll of the Sad, which offers some of the best panoramic views of Granada, and then returns to climb the Calderería Nueva Street, our favorite alley where we recommend you stop for tea in one of the many tea shops (the Kashba tea shop it's a safe bet).

And to end the busy day, nothing better than a session at Hammam Al Ándalus, a beautiful SPA, inside old Arab baths (there is option to also give massage, look here). Oh, how nice to end a day of travel. Well, who says finish a day trip, has forgotten something very important: you have to have dinner! Am I going to miss another tapas routine in the center? No way!

Now, with a relaxed body and a full stomach, it's time to close your eyes and hug Morpheus.

DAY 2 - MORNINGREALEJO NEIGHBORHOOD

Good Morning! After putting on our boots with a rich breakfast (ains, we are always thinking of eating, but how can we avoid it with those rich tomato and oil toasts?), We will be ready to go to know a neighborhood quite unknown to tourists, but full of Personality and authenticity: the Realejo.

Its about old jewish quarter of Granada and we like it for its simplicity and for the feeling of warmth it gives us whenever we go through it. We seem to be surrounded by the most authentic Granada, far from the photos of tourists and souvenir shops. In 2 or 3 hours you can make a beautiful route, which will take you to know places like Hall Ride, the Church of the Virgen de las Angustias, the Bibataubin Palace, the Church of Santo Domingo, the San Cecilio Parish, the San Matias Church, the House of Shots Museum, or the Convent of the Barefoot Carmelites.

Where to eat in the Realejo? A restaurant that we like very much is the Ávila Tapas II, but if you prefer you can go back to the historic center and continue trying some of the places famous for their tapas.

DAY 2 - AFTERNOONALBAICÍN AND SACROMONTE

After the regulatory siesta (you won it as a champion), the time has come for one of the best things to do in Granada: tour the Albaicin. Get lost in the cobbled streets of this arab quarter, declared a World Heritage Site, is something irresistible. The Albaicín is full of white houses, Moorish-style doors, cactus and bougainvillea, viewpoints, small squares and slopes, many slopes. It becomes hard, especially after the tapas we put in, but we assure you it will be worth it.

Getting lost here is practically the norm and nothing happens, however it points very well where the “Saint Nicholas' lookout" When the sun sets, in that corner of Granada street musicians play their guitars, and in front of you you will have the most beautiful sunset in Spain (certified!). Enjoy every second, because you will be living the great moment of the trip.

As a gold brooch (or rather, as a platinum brooch) we have flat: Flamenco show at Sacromonte, another neighborhood in Granada that is full of personality, synonymous with cave houses, flamenco and zambra mora. There are several places that offer these nights of singing and dancing, where you can also dine (very well), we propose this.

Here these are over two days in Granada. Do not look at us badly, we already warn you that Granada has a lot of things to offer, and some forcibly stay out. But hey, with this route you will be able to enjoy our favorite Andalusian city. There is only one more thing left: book another weekend to continue discovering it 😉
